Out and About With Leslie

I love to try out new places and new ways to entertain myself, workout, or simply indulge; and when I find something that I believe is special or unique, then I think it is worth writing about.

So I would like to share with you a few great little spots from my city and my neighborhood.

Whether you are a beginner or a well-seasoned boater, Sweetwater Kayaks offers a variety of kayaks, canoes, paddle boards as well as all the accessories for purchase or for rent. Their main retail location is a paddlers dream where you can browse or sign up for BCU and ACA Instruction courses (British Canoe Union and the American Canoe Association).  They also have guided tours and a rental location directly on the waters by the Weedon Island Preserve, a Pinellas county owned cultural and educational facility with 3,190 acres devoted to the protection of the local aquatic and upland ecosystems on Tampa Bay.

Their motto – We Grind for You – is certainly apropos.  Located next to the University of Florida’s St. Petersburg Campus, the Campus Grind is an independently owned café serving espresso and other fine coffee brews as well as pastries, baked good, sandwiches, pizzas, soups, as well as Vegan and Gluten free selections all made fresh at the Grind.

MEZE 119

An incredible and vibrant eatery in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida serving modern and authentic Middle Eastern and Mediterranean gourmet vegetarian and vegan meals that are made fresh daily using local ingredients.  The atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable, with plenty of pillows and upbeat décor.  Their awards include Best of the Bay (Tampa Bay area) 2011 through 2014 for Best Vegetarian Restaurant.
